I had a friend in college who was always bubbling with enthusiasm.  She did this yesterday, she is going to do this today, she has planned for something great two months after – isn’t it exciting?  She would go on and on.  Quite frankly, it made me envious and more aware that I led a very boring, very drab, dull life.

Now that I think of it, she did not do that many things which were different from what I did.  We were both students in the same college with the same pressures.  But she did a few things differently from me which made her life very interesting.

Today, I am also very excited and enthusiastic about my life.  What happened?  I changed my attitude.  I also learnt to create excitement in my life ( in this way she is one of my gurus – I learnt this from her ).

Living life fully would be savoring every moment of the day, feeling happy and positive doing things you love to do and also things that you have to do.

While all of us would like to live life fully, most of us do not know how to do so.  Living life fully would be savoring every day, I would say savoring every minute of the day.  It is like savoring every bite of gourmet food.  Living this kind of a life requires only your willingness to do so.

Our daily activities are divided into – work and play or leisure.  Our goal should be to make both kinds of activities fun and enjoy both of them.  Let’s start with the play part – the leisure part since this is already fun.  If how you spend your leisure time satisfies you, then continue spending it that way.  But if you are not feeling satisfied, then you can do something about it.  Most of us don’t ‘plan’ our leisure time.  We plop ourselves in front of our television sets.  But if you ever have the thought that I would like to do this when I have the time or pursue this interest when I have the time, then you can find the time right now simply by planning your leisure hours.  You feel certainly feel more excited, more fulfilled and you will be closer to your aim of living your life more fully.  Of course, if you are happier watching the television, then do it.

The key to being happy ( which is the aim of living life fully ) is to find work that you like to do.  If you like what you do, you will find fulfillment in work.  You will enjoy your day and be enthusiastic about it.  Even here, you may have certain activities which you love to do more – maybe you could try to get more of these assigned to you.  You can also have fun trying to play games with yourself – like setting targets or beating your own previous record.  You can have fun trying to find ways to do things better.  This will keep your excitement levels high.

A life that is exciting keeps spirits high and is more fulfilling.  You can learn to create excitement.  Schedule outings, picnics, parties, movie dates.  Plan for vacations.  Have a regular and varied entertainment diet.  Half the fun is in the planning.  This excitement spills over to all aspects of your life.  It feels great having something to look forward to.  Have something to look forward to every day.  Fill your day with enjoyable activities.  Enjoy your work also.

Living life fully calls for a shift in attitude.  Where once life was just a series of activities and just passed by, now every activity is done with conscious enjoyment and awareness.  Life becomes a pleasure and every moment of the day is savored.

One of the major time killers we are all familiar with is procrastination.  We put off doing work until we can no longer put it off.  We are all guilty of indulging our laziness at one time or another.

I have found that whenever I have put off doing work to another time, the mental pressure [...]
